State Rivals, Seminoles & Gators

2018 Game Recap

The tension was running high, blood was pumping, adrenaline running through each and every player on the field. The two Florida rival football teams were back at Dick Howser stadium on Bobby Bowden field for a head to head match up on November 24th 2018.

I had the opportunity to be on the field for the pre-game warm ups and was able to witness the excitement and nerves first hand. The atmosphere felt tense but exciting.

Game Recap:

The tensions were high. This game is played every year as thousands of UF and FSU fans gather in Tallahassee, FL or in Gainesville, FL for the game. The stadium was full, while 3/4 of the fans were Noles. FSU quarterback Deondre Francois was ready to go. The quarter didn’t start out like he wanted. The Gators had already scored a few touchdowns and were pulling ahead. Though, they still had hope to hang onto. The Noles still had plenty of time to make a comeback and pull ahead of the Florida Gators. Half time came quickly, after the first and second quarter the score was 13 to 7 with the Gators in the lead. The Noles had a 15 yard pass to Francois for a touchdown and the teams kicker Ricky Aguyo kicked a successful field goal. The Gators had two successful field goal attempts and one touch down in the half.

After half time, the Gators were on fire while the Noles were trying to regain the lead. Gator’s quarterback F Franks threw two more passes that were caught in the end zone for two touchdowns and had two more successful field goal attempts for the extra point on both. FSU quarterback ran in another touchdown bringing the score to 27 to 14 with UF still leading. In the fourth quarter the Noles had no gains and began losing momentum. The Gators scored another two touchdowns with two more successful field goals bringing the final score to 41 to 14 at the end of the game. Better luck next year Noles…

My name is Anslie E. Jackson and I am 20 years old. I was born in Tallahassee, FL. I earned my A.A. degree from Florida State University in 2018 and I am now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at The University of Florida. Graduating from this school has been a long time dream of mine. Though, I have grown up in Tallahassee and have grown up an FSU fan as well. Upon graduation, I plan to work towards earning a job in PR writing in the professional sports industry for a football or baseball league.
